I’m kind of embarrassed I put off coming here for so long because everything about this meal was fantastic. Order all of the pastas. The oysters are great. The swordfish katsu was delicious and light enough to finish on a hot summer evening. Our server was really good, maybe just a millimeter shy of too much. Wish we got dessert but they all looked really good.
What a joy! I’ve hosted several memorable family gathering at this Fishtown gem, which offers well prepared, fresh and delicious meals cooked to perfection with a fiery grill and wood-burning oven. Though known for fish dishes, KQ also offers delicious pasta selections. Not to be overlooked are the meats, including a flavorful ribeye which is tender and wonderfully seasoned. Appetizers were also superb, and the staff is energetic, attentive and full of personality. The tables are well spaced and the seating is comfortable.
I would recommend this place to anyone who had an affinity for seafood. Fairly nice sized portions, good drink/wine list. However, there are two that I wasn't in love with because of the amount of caraway and Amari - friends with Fred and raspberry beret. We ordered tapas style and got 6 oysters, not listed on the online menu, but prepared very well. Fluke crudo - very tender, though could have done with less olive oil. Little Gem salad, Parisian Gnocchi, especially liked the celery root soubise, and the seared Skate wing - which I felt was the best thing we got. We paired dinner with the favorita and inzolia white.
My recent dining experience at Kensington Quarters showcased truly remarkable service, thanks to our server Hallie and the team. Initially, our evening started on a super disappointing note—it started as “trash” as I told her. We were overlooked as others around us received prompt service. My frustration peaked when informed that the only dietary-appropriate entree I could have was unavailable.
However, Hallie's response to our situation transformed the entire experience. Despite the rocky start and her acknowledgement of the lapses in service, Hallie remained incredibly kind and apologetic throughout. Despite the news of the entree being unavailable, Hallie and the team managed to get the fish I could eat by reaching out to a nearby restaurant, even though it was after their closing hours.
This level of dedication and exceptional service is rare and was deeply appreciated. It not only salvaged our evening but honestly it also earned Kensington Quarters a customer for life. Hallie and the team’s efforts went above and beyond, reflecting the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction that is simply unheard of in Philly. An unforgettable experience indeed and I wish I could give them 10 stars.
I came here by bus for dinner on a Monday evening in late June 2022. The reservation said only patio seating was available but their entire dining room was empty and allowed for indoor seating if you desired. Their entire menu is tapas style while the last two sections are "more substantial entrees/tapas".
I ordered three Nova Scotia and three Velvet Sea Oysters but since only one Velvet Sea Oyster was available, I substituted two of them with Barstool Cocktail Oysters. They were all delicious. I also got the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo, which was also very nice but it didn't wow me.
I then had their Cacio E Pepe pasta which was also just okay and did not wow me. I then had the Grilled Octopus which was also just okay. It was pretty bland even though it was cooked very well. The entire dish needed seasoning. I even had to ask for lemon wedges, which only helped mildly.
I will say however, that the Oysters were shucked very well. The service was also very good. Those are the only redeeming qualities though. Don't go out of your way for this place. If you do, don't order anything I did except for maybe the Oysters.
Great brunch menu! Super friendly service, tasty options. Eggs Florentine on awesome milk bread. Tender omelette and delicious potatoes, only thing is size:) my husband said he would eat more :) and of course jelly donut, freshly made! And couldn’t not to point out the hay straw, quite cool eco friendly option and it will last through the brunch time, not like paper ones. Lastly they have inside and outside spaces, definitely kids friendly.
Easy to say the food was amazing, drinks were spectacular but the best part for me was the service. I travel a lot for work, spoiled by growing up in Austin with a service filled town I have struggled to find what I personally feel is overwhelmingly good service from staff.
The food is stunning so far everything we’ve had in both visits this summer have made us leave saying, “actually felt welcome and worth every penny spent”
This place should really be $$$ instead of $$. Four stars instead of five because the portions are very small, and we spent about twice what we were expecting. No other complaints—it’s a great restaurant.
The service was excellent, the decor in the restaurant is modern / rustic / industrial, and our meal was delicious in every way, although they have a style that is not always agreeable or inoffensive. You may find some things to be cooked differently from what you’re used to, or be a little too spicy. But still very delicious and thoroughly enjoyable.
